The Coordination Committee of the Justice Sector at the District level shall be a committee representing the group of justice personnel with the objective of assisting the District in coordinating activities relating to access to justice, reconciliation, rule of law and security.

The Committee has the following responsibilities:

  • 1° monitoring and coordinating the implementation of activities of the Justice Sector in the District of operation;
  • 2° raising and reporting issues that hinder the development of justice in the District and proposing solutions to such issues and submitting them to the national level;
  • 3° monitoring the implementation at the District level of decisions of the Sector Working Group and those of the Steering Committee;
  • 4° raising awareness of the population on their rights and obligations provided for by the law and on activities of justice institutions in the District;
  • 5° monitoring institutional activity plans, projects and strategies aimed at the development of the justice sector at the District level;
  • 6° advising all local Government organs and other forums at the District level on laws and their enforcement, access to justice, human rights and security;
  • 7° strengthening support to and promoting activities relating to justice, reconciliation, security, law and order, rule of law for the people to live in harmony.
