ABUNZI COMMITTEE

The Abunzi Committee is an organ responsible for conciliating parties in conflict under its jurisdiction with the aim of consolidating unity and peaceful co-existence. This committee was reintroduced in 2003 and it had been operational since 2004.

MAJ

The Ministry of Justice has established the Maison d’Access á la Justice (MAJ) in every District with three (3) lawyers per District to assist citizens to access justice by providing with them free legal aid.

JRLOS

The Coordination Committee of the Justice Sector at the District level shall be a committee representing the group of justice personnel with the objective of assisting the District in coordinating activities relating to access to justice, reconciliation, rule of law and security.

NGO

In the framework of inclusive governance, the Government of Rwanda has committed to strengthening partnerships between Government and civil society actors to fast track national development and people-centered prosperity. Specially, in the framework of legal aid provision, Non-Governmental organizations are strategic partners.
